So, we decide to discuss the most top-shooting flagship processors of the year 2025. These chipsets have set a new benchmark for the smartphone industry and brought the wet dream of serious computational power into a palm-sized form factor. On the other hand, they are sufficiently power-conscious to help sustain an aggrandized battery for the entire day of ordinary use.

Here, we’ve tested these processors in various smartphones unveiled in 2019 and they perform well for multitasking, heavy gaming, and even on-device AI.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400

MediaTek was on the stage in October 2024, to introduce the Dimensity 9400 SoC to the audience. In all respect, it is among the most powerful processors ever implemented on an Android-based device. As with the other chipset, this one is the second generation of 3nm fab using TSMC’s technology, making it efficient in power consumption.

CPU: The Dimensity 9400’s CPU is made up of one and only Cortex-X925 core operating at 3.63GHz and three Cortex-X4 cores operating at a 3.3GHz and four Cortex-A720 efficient cores running at 2.4GHz.

GPU: Just like the CPU, the chipset comes with the 12-core Immortalis-G925 GPU with a frequency of 1.6GHz. From here, the GPU supports PC-grade hardware ray-tracing.

NPU: In addition to a CPU and GPU, the processor includes the NPU 890 and the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE). Gemini Nano (multimodal) is completely supported on the device by the processor.

Memory: The Dimensity 9400 can be found in many devices with RAM that differs, but these RAM can go up to 24 GB, 4800 MHz LPDDR5X.

Connectivity: 5G (sub-6GHz) Wireless Wide Area Network WWAN, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, NFC.

Using the implemented Dimensity 9400 SoC thephones demonstrated about 2800 points in single-core version and approximately 8449 points in multi-core version of the GeekBench 6 benchmarking system. For the most part, the processor reached around 2.3 million on AnTuTu 10. For more information on how the processor performs you can check our review on the Oppo Find X8.

As of now, only two flagship smartphones, the Vivo X200 series and the Oppo Find X8 (review) series, are equipped with the broad market application Dimensity 9400. For more information on the handsets, you can always visit our comparison section as well as our reviews section.

Apple A18 Pro

Packed in the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the A18 Pro is currently Apple’s highest-performing iPhone processor. It is built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, which determines the overall power output-to-efficiency ratio.

CPU: The processor incorporates two performance cores operating at 4.05Ghz and four efficient cores operating at 2.42 Ghz.

GPU: The system-on-chip also gives the CPU a 1.4GHz hexa-core GPU that supports hardware-accelerate ray tracing for managing AAA video games at the Pro iPhones.

NPU: It also comprises a 16-core Neural Engine, capable of performing computed tasks up to 35 trillion operations per second. Neural Engine assist in the operation of OpenELM and Apple Foundation Model (AFM) on the given device.

Memory: In addition to the CPU, GPU, and NPU, the processor feature 8GB of LPDDR5X memory.

Connectivity: 5G/main/ sub-6GHz /mmWave, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.3, Ultra Wideband chip/gen 2, NFC.

By the use of the powerful processor, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max perform moderately at the single-core of 3,580 and multi-core 9,000 GeekBench 6 benchmark test. AnTuTu 10 benchmark scores of A18 Pro should not be compared with other processors as the plat form it self says that “the test results of the two versions are not directly comparable.”

In addition, the A18 Pro is one of the best processors on an iPhone and will continue to be this way until the iPhone gets updated in late 2025. Such processing and graphical ability also means the processor is suitable for the long haul; it would grow old gracefully.

Snapdragon 8 Elite

sanpdragon

Toward the end of October 2024, Qualcomm dropped its most powerful smartphone platform to date: Snapdragon 8 Elite. released on the sidelines of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC, is also designed using TSMC’s 3nm process, second generation.

CPU: The information lays out that the Snapdragon 8 Elite has Oryon prime cores with two at 4.32GHz and six Oryon performance cores at 3.53GHz.

GPU: Besides, the CPU, there is 1.1GHz Adreno 830 GPU which possess 12-core architecture and supports real time ray tracing.

NPU: The processor has Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU and the facultative on-device Multi-sensor Gemini Nano of a second kind.

Memory: LPDDR5X RAM that is supported by the Snapdragon 8 Elite is up to 24 GB.

Connectivity: Iphone 12 supports 5G (sub-6GHz and mmWave), 4G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0; it is the first with chipset that comes with the latest Bluetooth standard.

In the GeekBench 6, the chipset scores 2,988, for the single-core result and approximately 9,167, for the multi-core test. In AnTuTu 10 for example it managed to score in the region of 2.7 million points. We’ve tried the processor on the iQOO 13; meet more facts in our review of the smartphone.

At present, Snapdragon 8 Elite supports only a limited number of devices – the iQOO 13 5G (review), the OnePlus 13, the Realme GT 7 Pro 5G (review), and a few others. However, in the near future, Samsung will also use the chipset on its flagship Galaxy S25 series (probably in the ‘Ultra’ variant).

As with the Dimensity 9400, Snapdragon 8 Elite is among the most powerful chipsets on Android phones and will stay as such for multiple years. While you may choose to be using a phone with the chipset in 2024, or even 2025, this chipset won’t cease to remain one of the list ‘A’ chipsets.
